Legitimacy, Signature and Sovereignty in Derrida

Legitimacy is a concept that has been largely forgotten by the deconstructive discourse on law and politics. This article seeks, one hand, to reassess role of legitimacy in deconstruction and, other bring thinking bear legitimacy. By re-reading Derrida’s “Declarations Independence” through lenses his later texts sovereignty (counter)signature, it argued that, rather than being deconstructible, deconstructing any self-founding power. As such, functions not as an evaluative order but constantly insisting demand facilitates principles responsibility responsiveness.
